Feini (Sylvia) Qu joins Mechanical Engineering from Washington University in St. Louis where she worked as a research instructor and received numerous awards from the NIH and Orthopaedic Research Society. At the UW, she is the Treuer-Wagner Endowed Chair in Regenerative Spine Surgery and an assistant professor of Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine.

Her research aims to understand the cellular and molecular pathways of composite musculoskeletal tissue regeneration, especially with respect to the bone and connective tissues of limbs and joints. At the UW, Qu plans to provide a translational framework to regenerate tissues or organs as complex as an entire limb by identifying pathways that regulate tissue morphogenesis after amputation.
